Some advantages to hiring an RMT for labour support ...

knowledge * experience * professionalism * safety

Registered Massage Therapists qualified to practice in Ontario have spent two to three years studying human anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, massage treatment and theory, remedial exercise, nutrition, hydrotherapy, ethics, and professionalism before taking both practical and written certification examinations to become registered. To remain qualified, we upgrade our skills and knowledge through continuing education. We are regulated health professionals who are accountable to the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario for the quality of care we provide. The CMTO, in turn, exists to protect the public. And, as such, RMTs must adhere to stringent standards of practice and a code of ethics, and maintain professional liability insurance.

Many private insurance companies cover treatment from a Registered Massage Therapist as part of their extended health care plans. As labour support falls within the recognized scope of practice for RMTs, some insurance providers may allow you to claim part of the fees you pay to an RMT Doula. Please consult your policy.
